May 14, 201014 yr comment_319640 Hi Chris,The old car is doing well. The local constabulary insisted I remove the window tint from the side windows and a new head was installed. I meant to have the floorpans done over the winter but never got around to it. Maybe this summer. I also plan on installing Dave's tail light wiring harness, and replacing the hoses to the heater core. Cheers. May 14, 201014 yr Author comment_319656 Martin,I didn't think the tint was that dark but I guess you can't argue with "the man"...I was looking at the harness dave has for both the headlihts and tail lights...he doesn't make them for 260's though. I think once the pans are in, you've got one fabulous little car...but of course I am biased.Have a great summer driving.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35867-back-again-this-time-a-260z/?&page=2#findComment-319656 Share on other sites
May 16, 201014 yr Author comment_319875 Well I managed to get up to where the car is and start taking things apart...good news is that when I removed all the original carpeting and jute, there were only 2 small holes in the floors and the tar pads were almost completely intact. The biggest bonus was when I picked up the driver side carpet, something fell from between the carpet and the jute. When I looked down, on the floor of the car was the "original" Nissan key with the key code stamped on it. I was so surprised but thought hmmm....does it work? Sure does! All the doors , hatch and most important, the ignition. From the glove box I pulled the original owners manual and the warranty booklet with the warranty card from Winnipeg. Amazing. I'm going to peel off all the tar pads from the floors and repair the small holes, then cover with POR-15 for safe keeping. The spare tire well as you can see if the original bright 307 Blue from 1974 and it's clean. The original spare tire as well in good shape plus the luggage straps were intact. I picked up some spare interior parts courtesy of Rick in Tottenham and will be keeping those just in case. All I need now are clean bumpers. A couple of updated pics to show the discoveries. More to follow. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35867-back-again-this-time-a-260z/?&page=2#findComment-319875 Share on other sites

May 17, 201014 yr Author comment_319990 I saw that a little earlier but wonder how good the quality is. If it's cheap quality, I don't think I would chance putting it on the car. I'd rather spend a little more and get good quality Nissan stuff. I've also looked at the fiberglass from MSA but I'm not convincned there either. May 18, 201113 yr Author comment_356152 Well, I finally pulled the old girl from the cold garage today and got her set up on the 15" Swastikas I finally acquired. I like the look of these wheels much better than the old gold mesh 14's. The bumpers are ok for now but I managed to grab a pair of super clean 260Z skinny bumpers, perfect chrome and they are going on this week end. All I can wish for is some sun as i feels like Seattle right now here in Southern Ontario.
