does anyone know of any welding classes that I can take to teach me how to weld in some roll cages, strut bars, etc? I'm looking to weld in new frame rails, a roll bar, strut tower bracings . . . etc etc.

I'm located in mission viejo,CA and am willing to drive to learn. If anyone knows of any good schools/classes close to my area I would greatly appriciate it. I would rather goto a place that has good reviews than just pick one on the net.

Welding isn't rocket science. Find a community college with a course and take it. Or just have some friends who took such a course give you some instruction (that's what I did).

I'm trying to get a friend to teach me, but he's slacking on it. I'm thinking about a CC, but none of them around me teach this. I'd have to drive an hour to get to somewhere that does.

I am planning on taking the welding class at Palomar CC this fall. Registration is July 6. 1 hour lecture, 2 hour lab, Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6-9PM. That's probably a 45 minute drive for you to get there.

I will double check but I think it's $150 for the class and $50 for materials, so roughly 200 total. They also have a morning class but don't remember the time. I can give you all the information by tomorrow. Just got the Palomar CC catalogue yesterday.

Look into a rop ( regional occupational programs) i did a welding class at Southwestern College. I think the class was free or a small fee.. rop is a great way to build skills and learn new trades.
