Wiper Arms

Recommended Posts

I opened up the wiper motor since it wasn’t working and I found that the 3 brushes were broken, I could find the exact replacement, however I got 3 very similar and I just file them (not sure about this word but is what the translator came out with), and it seem to be working now, however when I put the high speed for the motor is even slower. I check all the connection and they are all right, does the length of the brushes have something to do with it? I ask this because it was the only measure that I didn't have a reference, and another question, and this was fault because I didn't label everything. I tried to reassemble the Arms but I can't remember how they go, I found the wiper arms diagram, but I am having trouble with the parts that attach to the motor, here are some pics, can anybody tell the order they go into, I figure it out some of them but I'm having problems with the spring,

Hope anyone can help me

TIA

The Z wiper motors have less torque when on high speed. If the windshield is wet, you will probably see them move a little faster on high speed, but it isn't much different. When the windshield is dry, they will typically move slower on high speed.

Thanks, I will probably see the difference once they are on the windshield.

Regarding the assy for the wiper arms I put number on the pic and i think they go like this

1-6-2-3-4-5-7

But what about the spring?

Gil:

If you still have the linkages out of the car, then do yourself a favor... disassemble the PIVOTS (# 7 and 8) in the diagram.

The shaft holder has a pocket for grease, which over time has petrified and makes it very hard for the shaft to turn in the holder. If the body of the pivot doesn't rotate freely around the shaft, it's gunked up.

I'll do some research on the spring.
