Good luck ! Take your time and don't get frustrated. It's very challenging laying under the car driver front wheel area and reaching up with this L-shaped rod. You will need good lighting from under the car pointing toward the Hood Latch Release bracket area also. This will help with visibility such that you can line up the u-shaped hook easily in getting your Latch opened manually.

Broke my cable a year ago. Luckily the hood had popped at the same time so I didn't have the hassle of trying to release it. Bought a new cable complete from MSA.

It's obviously time everyone with these old cars replace the hood release cable

as they are past there prime. They are not too expensive either, and a new cable is good insurance in my opinion.

This is a somewhat worrisome issue. I knew there was a good reason why I never fully close my hood! With as often as we're all bending over under the hood especially.

If I couldn't open my bonnet or my boot and use my spanner to fix my wing, indicator, silencer, bulkhead or grub screw...

... I would scream.
