November 18, 200915 yr comment_300703 Good luck ! Take your time and don't get frustrated. It's very challenging laying under the car driver front wheel area and reaching up with this L-shaped rod. You will need good lighting from under the car pointing toward the Hood Latch Release bracket area also. This will help with visibility such that you can line up the u-shaped hook easily in getting your Latch opened manually.Let us know how it goes ! December 12, 201014 yr comment_338617 Thanks for the post! I was able to get the hood open on my 1972 240z after several fishing attempts and the I used a bent BBQ skewer taped to a long screwdriver to hook it. December 13, 201014 yr comment_338726 Broke my cable a year ago. Luckily the hood had popped at the same time so I didn't have the hassle of trying to release it. Bought a new cable complete from MSA. It's obviously time everyone with these old cars replace the hood release cableas they are past there prime. They are not too expensive either, and a new cable is good insurance in my opinion. December 20, 201014 yr comment_339316 This is a somewhat worrisome issue. I knew there was a good reason why I never fully close my hood! With as often as we're all bending over under the hood especially. If I couldn't open my bonnet or my boot and use my spanner to fix my wing, indicator, silencer, bulkhead or grub screw... ... I would scream. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3618-arrrrrr-my-bonnet-doesnt-open/?&page=2#findComment-339316 Share on other sites
