Posted June 15, 201014 yr comment_322622 i've got a "83 ZX & i'm noticing Z's had a lot of electrical problems. So for now: does anyone know if a problem with the ECM can simulate a ground fault? & i tried to install a borsh hi-amp alternator but i had pole problems doing that. June 15, 201014 yr comment_322624 The control units used in 1983 were not what you'd call an "ECM". They did no adjustments, calculations, etc. The were pretty much passive and simply patched signals through. Think analog vs. digital when comparing them to anything modern. Therefore, they wouldn't be able to 'simulate a ground fault'.
