Posted June 19, 201014 yr comment_322990 I want to make sure I am following the correct timing marks. As you can see from the picture, I have multiple notches on both the indicator and the pulley. I want to make sure the correct notch on the pulley is highlighted (center mark) to set the timing. Thoughts? June 19, 201014 yr comment_322993 You've got mismatched pointer and pulley. Early motors had five marks on the pulley and a single pointer. Later cars used a single mark on the pulley and the multiple-mark indicator.Best thing to do now (IMO) would be to find true TDC (0°) by watching the #1 piston through the plug hole, and confirm which marks line up at TDC. June 20, 201014 yr Author comment_323118 Following Arne's advice, TDC is aligned with the farthest right mark on the pulley (see pic). I have highlighted it in white for easy viewing going forward, though not in this old pic.
