April 4, 201113 yr Author comment_352001 Not good with the dent guy. He said he could not get it out. So I will live with it until I bite the bullet and have all of the dents fixed. The dent stares me in the face every time I get in the car. April 4, 201113 yr comment_352004 I wish I never removed my headliner. I am afraid it is going to show through where the foam was separated from the vinyl.Ron, I used the headliner out of my yellow car in the red car after the sunroof was removed. When I pulled (carefully) the headliner off the donor roof, there were two or three small spots where the foam stuck to the roof and left a divot in the foam. When Escanlon helped me install it in the red car, he noticed those divots and filled them with little scraps of foam to prevent them from showing after the install. Worked perfectly. The other option (if you are missing significant amounts of foam) would be to remove it all an glue a new sheet of foam to the vinyl. That shouldn't be too hard, assuming you can find an extra body or two to help lay it out smoothly.I have half of my vinyl is loose on my headliner, is it a PITA like the older Z's to repair :disappoinI'm pretty sure it is the same story, just a different pattern of vinyl. Still needs to be glued in place. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36275-disaster-struck-this-morning/?&page=2#findComment-352004 Share on other sites

April 5, 201113 yr comment_352088 Randy, I've used a paintless dent guy in the past that was unbelievable. He's been doing it for many years and didn't have a lot of good to say about dentmasters and other franchise businesses. He said they have at most a couple of years experience and receive only a couple of weeks training. (FYI, that's what he said, I'm not downing the franchise guys so don't flame me!)If you're interested, I'll see if I can find his contact info. He took a softball size dent out of my daughters 300zx that was right on the fender line. When he was done, you couldn't see it or feel it. Also several smaller door dings down the side. This guy was a pro. I also liked his attitude. He said he really enjoyed fixing the dents other guys said can't be taken out!Let me know.Sorry to hear about the dent!Best,Bob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36275-disaster-struck-this-morning/?&page=2#findComment-352088 Share on other sites
April 5, 201113 yr comment_352092 On another forum here, is another way to remove the dent - but I think it needs two blonds and besure to have the windows rolled up tightly before you blow into the tailpipe. April 5, 201113 yr Author comment_352135 Thanks Bob. If you have his contact info that would be great. Another set of skilled eyes and hands to look at it would keep me from tearing up every time I get in it. Are you going to the Muck this year? April 5, 201113 yr comment_352149 Randy, this was the real reason you drove the Prius when we had lunch in February, wasn't it? Wasn't the threat of rain, you couldn't bear to let me see it? Trust me, I've seen worse. April 6, 201113 yr comment_352176 Had a guy locally that had a roofer fall through his garage ceiling onto his MINT 280 ZX and damage the hood and right fender. The illegal took off and ran, the roofing company didn't settle at all, and I think he's still looking for OEM parts to repair it.
