Ignition problem

Recommended Posts

I have got a problem with my ignition, the car starts fine but won't keep running. I can turn the key to start and no problem but when it goes back to ON the engine cuts out. I thought that it was the electical part of the ignition in the back of the lock so i ordered a new one from MSA, however the problem still occurs. Everything seems to be in good order, ie fuses, alternator, coil and ignition switch (the electrical module behind the lock), could my problem be the VR. If anyone has had this problem or knows an obvious solution please let me know.

I thought it was the switch too, but i ordered a new one from MSA and the engine still cuts out. Right now i don't even have the lock attached i just used a screw driver to turn the switch to start. Car turns over and hums, if i ease of on the switch the started will disengage but if i let it go back to on then it cuts out.

If the ballast resistor is the small box that resides right under the coil then that was the problem. The two wires that come off it weren't connecting properly. I had narrowed it down to my crane ignition and that so now all is well. Thanks all
