March 6, 201312 yr comment_417048 The Body chapter of the FSMs has some dimensions. They show 853 mm for the 1972 240Z and 836.4 mm for the 1976 280Z, between the centerlines of the tops of the towers. They also show the 240Z tower height as 640 mm, and the 280Z as 682 mm. 42 mm difference, ~ 1 5/8".I'm glad this came up because I've wondered about the strut height difference before. Now I have the body numbers but don't have the strut measurements. Some of the difference is taken up by the strut top insulators, 240Z being shorter than 280Z. March 7, 201312 yr comment_417105 Quote but as a complete assy the rear suspensions are interchangeable-Nope. The 280Z rear strut is 1.25" taller then the 240Z rear strut. March 7, 201312 yr comment_417107 Would that be to the top of the tube (no shock), the top of the shock (where the nut bottoms out, no insulator) or the top of the insulator (complete assembly)? With all of the numbers, one could mix and match on paper, and do math on cutting for adjustable spring heights. If you have the numbers...Thanks. March 7, 201312 yr comment_417108 No, the Cusco brace absolutely does not fit the 280z. I have one sitting in my garage right now. The MSA brace, though less attractive does fit. March 7, 201312 yr comment_417111 "Strut" means the tube. I have all the numbers and they are all entered into Mitchell's various suspension and chassis software programs. Considering I paid $1,000 for the software, a week measuring a S30 on a surface plate, and a couple days entering and analyzing the info I don't give it out to people on internet message boards. :-) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36359-rear-strut-brace/?&page=2#findComment-417111 Share on other sites
March 7, 201312 yr comment_417136 It was worth a shot. Can't blame you. Thanks for the 1.25" number anyway. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36359-rear-strut-brace/?&page=2#findComment-417136 Share on other sites
