az240z Posted July 15, 2010 Share #14 Posted July 15, 2010 I am a member of both. Desert Datsuns are a young group and someone would be willing to help. As for DZA it is more of a social club with drives, dinners and breakfasts. More of an older crowd.
Z train Posted July 15, 2010 Share #15 Posted July 15, 2010 THe Factory FI is a good piece. In it's day it had no rival especially from Detroit. You are letting a tiny problem steer you into massive $$ outlay when all you need to do is fix the existing FI.Parts are available and not that $$$$.Switching fuel delivery systems because of a "time table issue" on your part is really not a good idea. And if it is a timing issue, you'll still have the same problem and much llikely worse. AZMarty Posted July 31, 2010 Share #17 Posted July 31, 2010 Stick with the FI. I've got a 1975 with FI , about 160,000 miles and it starts & runs great. Get the book Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management, by Charles O. Probst. The 280Z has a licensed version of Bosch L-Jetronic FI.
