July 14, 201014 yr comment_325365 wellll here in phoenix, you have to smog test a car 1967 or newer. also newer cars (i think if its under 5 years old) you dont have to smog test at all.but here in arizona there are only a few counties that have smog rules. (major cities)you have to smog your car even if its registered as historic.you only have to smog every 2 years. and smog goes with each new owner without having to retest until the 2 years is up.ANY car in Arizona 15 years old or older that is insured under a "Classic Car policy"is emissions testing exempt.ALL motorcycles in the state DO NOT have to be tested unless you are in Maricopa County Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36477-states-emission-laws/?&page=2#findComment-325365 Share on other sites

July 14, 201014 yr comment_325378 Yes.HOWEVER......Classic car policies have mileage restrictions & other limitations. And if you wreck it on your way to work-you're screwed. And you will still have an issue with the car that needs addressing. I can use it for personal pleasure, club events, and the like. To get this type of insurance, one must have a second car to use as a daily driver.Dan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36477-states-emission-laws/?&page=2#findComment-325415 Share on other sites
July 15, 201014 yr comment_325433 Indiana, none at all. SteveActually I believe that Lake and Porter counties do have mandatory emissions testing. I don't recall the details, but think it was every 5 years. There was a member of this forum at one time from Northern Indiana. July 15, 201014 yr comment_325462 In California, 1976 and newer vehicles are required to have smog check inspections for registration renewals, change of ownership transactions and initial registration.California also has smog exempt counties (at least for now). Most of these counties are north of San Francisco: parts of Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake Humbolt, Siskyu, Del Norte, etc.I have a 76 280z and I don't have to have a bi-annual smog test. I just send in my yearly fee and proof of insurance. My Z is registered in Mendocino county. As sblake mentioned, I would have to have it smogged if I wanted to sell it.Dave Ruiz:beer: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36477-states-emission-laws/?&page=2#findComment-325462 Share on other sites
