Posted July 15, 201014 yr comment_325502 Hi guys. I've asked this before but for the some reason cannot find the post. I'm leaving my Z parked as I go on vacation for a month. Other than pull the battery and cover the car with a cover is there anything else I should do? July 15, 201014 yr comment_325506 Something like Seafoam or some other fuel stabilizer maybe. A month is not that long of a period to be left sitting. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-325506 Share on other sites
July 15, 201014 yr comment_325508 I've left my car stationary for more than a month before, restarting with no ill effect (that I am aware of).My main concern would be theft deterrence. I would try to park it in such a way that towing would be difficult, i.e. park it between your house and a car with a good alarm end-to-end. You can do all you want to disable the car, but a thief with access to a tow truck won't be slowed down at all. July 15, 201014 yr comment_325517 For only a month? No, you've about nailed it. Just make sure it's not stealable. Stick it in the garage somewhere. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-325517 Share on other sites
July 16, 201014 yr comment_325536 Just lock the doors and turn off the lights - you shouldn't experience any problems for that short dormant period.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-325536 Share on other sites
July 20, 201014 yr comment_325999 Just lock the doors and turn off the lights - you shouldn't experience any problems for that short dormant period.DennisI would have to politely disagree on this. Having lived in Tucson myself (I was born in Phoenix) leaving things unattended outside for too long invites unwelcome consequences. Of course, it depends on which part of Tucson you live in, but as a general principle...A couple of suggestions: 1) Make sure your car has no dried mud anywhere that might cause/start rust. 2) Ensure you don't leave anything inside that would leave an odor. To illustrate point two, I kept a small plastic trash bag in the passenger side of a Maxima I once owned. I forgot about the bag when I left for a trip. On returning home, when I opened the car the smell made me gag. I had to wash the carpets and seats a couple of times with my steam vac to remove the smell.Bryan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-325999 Share on other sites

July 21, 201014 yr comment_326041 Rent a secure storage unit out by Orange Grove and I-10 Pay the $90 for the month and have piece of mind that your car will be there when you return. Just drive it in, remove the battery, put it on the floor on a piece of cardboard and lock that door with a good "storage" lock.Stay away from 22nd St, Speedway and Grant. I haven't lived in Tucson in a while but I am pretty sure there was a place out in the NW section right by I-10 that seemed safe.John Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-326041 Share on other sites
July 21, 201014 yr comment_326074 Another thing to consider is small 'vermin' getting into the air cleaner intake or up the tail pipe.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-326074 Share on other sites
July 21, 201014 yr Author comment_326086 Well mates thanks for all the advise. I ended up parking the parking the car at my friends home. It is in a fenced in lot and is sitting on a flat spot of his yard. I covered the car with a complete car cover and took the battery out. I would have parked it in a storage unit but at the moment funds are a bit short after I did the tires and fixed a number of other things on the car. Thanks againJan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36501-storage-question/#findComment-326086 Share on other sites
July 22, 201014 yr comment_326141 I use my 240 only once a month for club outings. Havn't encounteredany problems. I do check the oil and water before I start it each time. Once a cat leapt off the engine as I lifted the hood. Startled the crap out of me.The car is in a locked, covered courtyard, so no problem the cat getting in.
