Irish Wake Posted July 17, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2010 I recently bought a 1978 280Z. The compressor runs but the AC doesn't cool. The system was just converted to R134 but the seller says it needs the expansion valve replaced. How hard of a job is that and does the dash have to come out. What should I expect to pay for this repair.Do you guys thinks it could be the expansion valve or some thing else?ThanksRandy
sblake01 Posted July 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2010 The dash doesn't have to come out to change the expansion valve. It can be removed after removing the finisher, finisher brackets and center air ducts. A bad expansion valve could cause the system not to cool but so could several other things. If you are unsure that that is the problem the only thing I could suggest is the have it inspected by an AC shop.
