Posted August 3, 201014 yr comment_327069 I just bought a 71 240z. It will be my first project car and I am very excited. It is pretty much stock except for new headers and a 2.5 inch exhaust system that the previous owner installed. The motor is an L24 and numbers matching. My aim is to mostly keep it looking stock and classic. The car has very little rust so I do not have to deal with that as a major issue. Right now I am trying to get all of the mechanical work done. So far I have replaced the fuel pump and filter. Next I am going to flush and clean the engine. I will continue to do research online and on these forums. Perhaps if any of you have the time, advice is greatly appreciated. I look forward to getting to know all of you and am privileged to be a member of these forums and an owner of a 240z. August 4, 201014 yr Author comment_327127 It is cool to see that many of you are nearby where I live. Please keep me updated whenever there are any 240z meets in Washington. Right now I have ordered a copy of the "Repair and Tune-up Guide for Datsun 240Z/260Z 1970-74" by Chilton from amazon, but after reading up on some other threads I am now trying to cancel my order and just get a copy of the FSM. August 4, 201014 yr comment_327132 You're going to fit in nicely here! One more book you need to buy is a Nissan part book that gives you all the breakdowns with Nissan part numbers. There are a lot of parts that you can still order from your local Nissan dealer. Let your local parts manager know that you are working on a Datsun and ask him if he can give you a helping hand on the cost. My manager in my home town sells me all the parts I want at body shop cost (approx a 25% discount - and no freight with 3 day turn on ordering vs. delivery date). They can not look up the part numbers and that is why you need to parts book. I bought my over the internet for $60 but well worth the money IMO!This may help - it's a little difficult to use but you'll get the hang of it - the book is easier if you can find one.http://carfiche.com/fiche009/s30/index.pl?1:b:1 Edited August 4, 201014 yr by Travel'n Man Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36670-greetings/#findComment-327132 Share on other sites
