Moving to Indianapolis in 2011!

I just received orders to U.S. Coast Guard Recruiting Station Indianapolis, IN.

I'm pretty stoked about it too! I like what I've been reading online and the area looks to have plenty to offer my family and I.

So how about the Indy Z Club? Are you guys pretty active? I plan on being heavily involved and also to complete a full resto-mod on my 240 at some point during my four years there.

I could really use some advice on the best areas to consider moving to. Fishers seems pretty good, wide range of house values. My wife is a licensed Vet Tech and can pretty much get a job in any suburban area. My son will be starting school shortly after moving up there so naturally a good school district is important. I will be working at the recruiting office which looks to be located in the Castleton area.?.

Any pointers and info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Nate,

I live in Fishers. Its a nice place and the prices are pretty reasonable. It is growing by leaps and bounds. Noblesville isn't bad either but is starting to get further away from things. I can recommend a realtor if you need one. I moved here 5 years ago and worked with a good one. There is a bunch to offer locally and Indianapolis isn't too bad either. I am a vet and work at a specialty hospital on the north side. I don't think we are hiring right now but there should be a fair number of jobs available. Feel free to drop me a line about any places she is looking at. I can give you the skinny. The z club is a pretty good one. I don't get to as many of the meetings and events as I would like but we have a good time. We meet once a month and after the meeting go out for food and beer. Its a good group of people. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the move, the house, etc. Good luck!

Oh, we may not have mountains but we have plenty of corn and soybeans. Yessiree! There's nothing like getting up in the morning, having a big stretch, stepping out onto the porch and looking as miles and miles of beans. :)

Hey guys... just got back from out of town.

The wife and I are really excited about the move, but unfortunately it won't take place 'till around next June.

Carl- We appreciate your offers and I'm sure we will be in contact in the near future... especially in the wife's job field!

Carl and Steve- We are talking about a trip up that way in the next few months so that we can check out the area. I look forward to being able to meet up with y'all!

Buy a house where you can see the mountains. ;)

Or the ocean... (either one, it doesn't matter...) LOL

But their are some muddy reservoirs nearby. :D

The Southern part of the state is hilly, and that is where the "fun" roads are mostly. Most of our cruses run from Indy towards the Ohio river.

The Indy Z club meetings are on the second Thursday of the month at Hubler Nissan in Greenwood. (7:00PM) It is a pretty active club, mostly newer cars, but some of the first gen cars. The web site is still only partially operational due to rebuilding from last year's "incident":

Awesome, Thanks Walter. I just registered at the site and told the wife that starting in a year to make sure the 2nd Thursdays stay open. ;)

Aww man, you just missed Formula One :)

Better get transferred to Austin

Austin wasn't an option this time around... San Antonio was though. I have family scattered all over Texas and I am originally from Corpus, so it's just a matter of time before I end up somewhere in the state. But this time around it's "The Crossroads of America" in "The Hoosier State"!

FWIW- I prefer Indy to F1, Grand Am to Indy, and American Le Mans over them all... so I guess I'll be making my way over to Mid-Ohio and Road America while I'm up there!
