Posted August 22, 201014 yr comment_328659 Has anyone instaled the strut shaft bump stops on their car? Mine didnt come with directions on how to put them on so im assuming they just sit on top of the gland nut right? Also i purchased some moog ball joints, do i have to pack the ball joints with grease before i install them? August 23, 201014 yr comment_328671 What brand bump stops did you get? Mine just slipped over the shock rods and fit up into the upper spring seat. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36856-front-suspension-help/#findComment-328671 Share on other sites
August 23, 201014 yr Author comment_328675 I bought 2 from bda and i had 2 from energy suspension, i thought that the bump stops were supposed to go all the way to the gland nut it makes more sense that they would go in the upper spring seat Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/36856-front-suspension-help/#findComment-328675 Share on other sites
August 23, 201014 yr comment_328760 Yes, they just slip over the strut rod with the big end up. It doesn't matter where they sit as they will slide up and down freely on the rod. The originals fit up in the upper seat, but the aftermarket ones just float from what I remember. Keep in mind that the springs will have to be compressed and removed from the strut before you can install the bump stops. As for the ball joints, did they come with grease fittings? If so, you will have to hit them with a grease gun. If not, they are sealed. I think I recall the Moog parts coming with fittings.
