saw the 350z

and as far as a Z....... I don't like it. I can see the evolution to the car....240-260-280-300-350. I don't think it is deserving of the Z name. With that said, it is a decent looking sports car but it doesn't look like it will hold up, it looks cheaply made.

I tend to agree. A friend of mine bought one and paid around $38,000 for a track model, is that dealer markup or what? It's a nice looking sports car and I'm sure it'll really gets up and goes. I like my 240 alot better and told him that, atleast I can work on it myself.

I've seen a couple around the Denver area and actually parked my 260 next to one at a shopping center hoping to run into the owner but didn't. Anyway, there's an article in this months CAR AND DRIVER, comparing the 350 with the TT, mustang and honda 2000?. They rate the 350 the best value for the money in terms or ride, speed, handling etc. It's getting favorable ratings but like our z's the brakes suck the suspension could be better. But the new Z seems to be pretty quick. FWIW.

I want to like the look of the 350 but the rear hatch area looks like an elephant sat on it and dented the rear hatch down below straight (looks like it sags). If it had a slight bow (out) more in keeping with our Z's I think it would have looked better.

Just thought I would add the new z seems to be pretty tough as it did 22 hrs in the bathurst 24hr before the driver hit some marbels of line and spun it into the wall:stupid: . Other than a set of slicks, roll cage and upgraded springs the car was totaly standard and it keeped up with alot of the cars. It was running 10th at one stage. All in all I think it will live up to the z car name! check it out at www.procar.com.au in the bathurst section.

Did it finish the race? I tuned in after about 3 hours to see the 350Z limping into the pits with a blown front right tyre... presumeably that was the cause of the damage in the last picture.

I seem to recall the mixed reviews the original Z had when people first saw it. The term I recall was Corvette want-to-be. I'm glad people didn't listen to that kind of talk and made the car an instant classic. I think this car will, in time, prove it is indeed, a Z. I didn't care much for the looks of it either when I first saw it but now after seeing them close up, I would take one over any Mustang or Honda, BMW, etc..

I like them and if I could afford one, would buy it. Of course it would have to be a track model!

When stopping by the local Nissan dealership today I saw 6 350's on the lot and so I thought what the hell I would like to get a used one in 4 years when the price is 1/2, I might as well get educated about the car, when I quickly was reminded why car salesmen do more harm than good . . . .when ask me why I was looking and I told him that I had a 240 that I was restoring. He then asked me if I liked the color:stupid: . Then said “oh a 240 I think my son had one . . . was that the old Z?” :dead: It never ceases to amaze me that people selling the cars are clueless. Which I guess means that most of the people buying the cars are clueless. Anyway I will gather my data, learn what I want to get then in 4 years when some little rich kid wants a new toy I will find a used one for ~$15,000 with 70K miles and then I will have my toy. Sorry you 350 haters but I think the interior is great and that what I will see most of when I am driving it.

I agree with the last post. I would love to have one now but I will wait for about 3 or 4 years and get a used one. By then the aftermarket add on selection will be greater as well. This way Nissan gets the bugs worked out and I will be more educated about the car by then. The only thing I would like to see is more color choices or recreations of original 240/260/280 colors.
