First off, i would like to announce i am the proud new owner of my first 240z :). now, for the disappointment. not in the car at all, but at myself. I love that the car has no power steering,to me, it is absolute heaven. But. I am located in san francisco and parking is just not working out. Its almost impossible to do it quickly with the lack of power steering. are there any kits, most likely electronic that i could install in the car, but have the ability to switch it off? i only need it for parking. Help is greatly appreciated!!

I'm not aware of any power assist kits. The "trick" to manual steering is to make sure the car is rolling just a bit before you turn the wheel. I've owned many cars with manual steering (my MR2 was just perfect) and they all lighten-up with just a little motion.

Here is your solution.

It is direct replacement for your steering shafy assembly.

It works from begining and becomes heavier as you speed up.

I just had a shop made for us and brought back from Japan.

Yoshi, it also helps not to have wide front tires and to have your tires well inflated. Wide tires running at low pressure are misery to steer.

Check out HybridZ for a popular retrofit solution using a Subaru Impreza (?) PS rack, if I remember correctly.

Thanks everybody for the help! will definitely look into the subaru solution for sure, as i am a college student on a very tight budget. Esprist's solution looks pretty cool too, would be interesting to learn more bout that. As for the ZONC get togethers, i will try my best to attend one, but at the moment, the car needs tons of work. The car is slightly embarassing looking at the moment as the previous owner sprayed the bumpers and wheels gold.. Thanks for all the help!
