Another thing to add, is that currently I have my fog lamps on a switch located where the side marker switch need sto go. So, adding the side marker switch will involve not only routing new wires but also re-locating the fog lamp switch. I was able to find an old Hazard lights toggle switch that will function as a proper fog lamp switch once I rework it's face ideogram for that change.

That's very cool, indeed.

Regarding the fog-light switch, on my '71, I got a spare toggle switch and installed it in the cigarette lighter location. It looked quite natural.

That is exactly where the early cars had them installed, in the dash indent just above the Hazard switch. That's because the Cigar Lighter was mounted on the Fuse Box Cover.

I don't know where the cars with the Cigar Lighter mounted on the dash had their Fog Lamp Switch located. Can anyone answer that one?

Additionally, referring back to the Side Marker Switch, there was a center console and fuse box cover that split the side marker switch alongside the "Z" emblem, then a later style located the switch on the Fuse Box Cover. It's moved around as far as I've been able to determine.

Wow! I did not realize all the differences in specs between U.SA. vs Japanese RH S1 cars. Okay looks like I need to educate myself thru some serious research.

I have a set amount of money that I have allocated for purchasing this car. I was just trying to determine if It was a financially realistic purchase.

I need to prioritize from the following list:

-Domestic or Japanese Specs

- RH S1 or 71 thru ?? year

-Mint trailer queen or very good condition driver.

Thank you for the contact and clarification/ideas guys. One of the issues I have is, I LOVE driving my cars. My 72 was mint when I bought it, looked like a 2 month old car, no exageration. Now 2k mi/1.5 yrs later its looks real nice- far from mint. Do I do that to a classic car? I guess this time, price will dictate priorities. These cars are addictive and these boards have some real good people- Thanks

-Perhaps one of you gents would be interested, when the time comes- for a fee to help in the inspect/locate this car?

From what I have seen, read and picked up over the years on early HS30's is basically anything goes. I have HS30-00352. But I've seen the non-vented hatch on a 500 VIN and it still had the hand throttle...so who knows what each car actually got fitted with. I'll take a guess that if you really wanted as close as you can get the same spec as the US "Series 1" then you'd be looking for a sub 500 VIN HS30.

Now let's see. Car would be a 69/70 model. That's 40 years old. I'd guess that less than 100 exist today which is optimistic, probably only 50 or so. I have one, I know of one other sub 500 in my town. So basically, good luck, your going to need it.

If one came up for sale in good nick, I'd guess at a price tag of US$20,000 plus. I'd want more than that for mine. But of course the old saying stands, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay"

Hi Kats, good to hear from you. I'm still keeping my eyes open for an original Bridgestone 185 for you, with no luck yet.

Life can thow surprises at you. Several events at home prevented me from finishing that part of the project at the speed which I wanted, then as you read above, difficulties in finding the proper front turn signals etc. But I'm hoping to finish it this winter.
