He could have trouble meeting EP or FP spec's in Solo 2 on his car. I can't tell for sure but the rear track looks like it might exceed the max rear track width rules with those big meats on the back. I beleive the max track width is 57inches in EP and 64 inches in FP. He might have to run it in the Mod class. What is the Doc's opinion on this?

Britt,

Track is measured from the wheel backing plate and not from the tire or wheel outside dimensions. They are limited to what wheel width the rules

allow though . Can't remember , but I

believe it is 10" max wheel width in

E Prepared.

Britt,

That car has been competing already . The pictures on that web site are of him building it. Mike had pictures on the original web site of the car done. He has

one in the racing album of the car at a autocross.

Here is a link to Tom Holts web site he also runs in E Prepared and is running the 16" x 10" wheel package.

The car has been running for a couple of years now. The web page that has the build pics on it is kind of old. I have the choice of working on the car or that site. Usually the car wins over. I have a bunch of photos that need scanning and some on disk to upload.

I won the Triad sports Car Club FP class championship along with the Central Carolinas SCCA Solo II FP championship in 2000. We also won the North Carolina Autocross Champioships FP class in 2000.

Starting in '01 I have been running the car at Virginia International Raceway (www.virclub.com) on club days and selected Vintage events with SVRA & HSR.

There have been several updates to the car since that first page. If anyone is interested let me know and I can fill you in. We are in negotiations on a 305 hp dry sump engine right now. That should help keep up with the 3.0 liter 911 cars.

Later,

Alan

I would love to see more pictures of your car as I am building one for FP. As you saw for earlier postings, there was a question about track width. after reading the other replies, I'm really hoping they are right and I'm wrong on my understanding of track width being 64". Can you clear this up?

Britt,

The track width is definitely measured from the centerline of the wheels. Section 12.5 of the Solo rulebook if anyone is reading along at home... 16x10 is the max wheel size. If you want to know anything about building a Z for FP let me know. I'll gladly share anything I know... we need more bodies in the class!!! I've tried to put just about everything I could think of on my website http://www.ccsi.com/~tholt/ but there are alsways more questions...

Dr. Sideways... do you ever travel out of the Va/NC area??? I would love to meet at a National Tour or something between there and Texas. It could be some fun racing!
