I've been working with a World Challenge series team this year. World Challenge is within the SCCA Pro Series. Last week we were at VIR. This was my first time at VIR. I've been to many tracks and I would like to say congratulations to all of you who either frequent VIR or are connected in any way. What a beautiful place. Everyone was very helpful and the track is great. I look forward to going there again.

Here's my personal VIR fav, Glenn Bunch's Hemi Challenger, what a beast!

Yeah, here's a cool Z vid at VIR. This was the last race of the season which determined the points championship between me and Jeff Dernehl, a long time RX7 driver.

Greg, Mark said you were protested over the contact but it was thrown out, rightfully so! I'd love to see more vids from you too.

  • 4 weeks later...

The guy in the RX7 pulled something on Greg that has twice happened to me. He left a huge hole on the outside leading into a brake zone then as Greg committed to the pass there, the guy squeezed him into the grass as Greg entered the brake zone needing all four tires on the pavement. Greg is lucky he didn't head off into the weeds. I hate it when people give you a little room and then slowly squeeze you off the track after you're committed. Down right rude and can be very dangerous. I don't think Greg would have made any contact had the RX7 driver just held his line on the inside. In fact, he may have even held Greg off from the pass altogether. I'd be interested in Greg's input.

Looks like that to me too, the RX7 appears to take a tighter blocking line into the corner and then tries to change his line when he realises where the Datsun is heading. A bit naughty when it results in contact.

You guys are all pretty much dead on. Remember this is the last lap of the last race for the points championship. My car could only catch him at the end of the straights. He guarded the inside which would have been my preference of course. He moved left for his normal brake entrance. I was willing to hold there and force whatever happened. We were deeper into the brake zone already when I figured out where we were and we touched front to back into the brake zone just enough where the RX7 got loose. That's all she wrote. I believe he went off the track on the back straight trying to late brake me there. I won the title by one point. SAWEEET!

BTW- The RX7 driver was a very experienced driver. In addition to this I have never met to this day a driver with red mist like this one. We went through 3 protests this year with this driver, two from my team and one from his. We won all 3. The move in this video was the 3rd protest, and the one filed by him. He lost, mainly because of my video. The steward told me that my move was a very low percentage move. I knew that, but that doesn't give him the right to run me into the grass.
