Hi I am new to the forum I just purchased an 81 280zx n/a from my brother in law it has been sitting for a few years, oil and coolant have been changed, i put fresh gas in, the problem is it will not rev above 2000rpm when driving, I removed the throttle position sensor and cleaned the contacts between the tps and the cable as best I could (there was alot of green corrosion) looks ok now, but still having the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

did you drain/siphon all the old out?

You might want to check the condition of the tank itself, clear out any crud/rust, change the fuel filter and the fuel pressure regulator.

Running a can of seafoam (or other quality fuel cleaning solution) through the system wouldn't hurt either.

:disappoinOk so I dropped the tank cleaned it all out changed the in line fuel filter used the sea foam in the gas tank and the vac line from the brake booster, engine revs fine under no load then does ok as soon as I take off, then wont rev over 2k again, my temp gauge is not working but I shot the block with a thermal temp gun and holding around 180, dosent seem to be getting hot, I dont know what to do next please help.
