Posted October 4, 201014 yr comment_332475 Hey all, I hope this evening finds you all well. I recently came into ownership of a 1970 240Z, I know absolutely nothing about these cars so I figured I'd join and learn something. I'm used to messing around with Chevy V-8's and so on, so this is entirely new territory for me. I plan on using the search function so I don't annoy you guys with questions you've all heard a thousand times before. At the end of the day though, there will be questions... several, I'm sure:) Here are some pics, she needs a lot of work, but I plan on taking my time so no worries there. Time is certainly not of the essence. Yep, ton of work to be done. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37282-new-from-socal/ Share on other sites
October 4, 201014 yr comment_332486 Hi, Casino. Welcome to the board!Your car looks pretty good for what is obviously a survivor. It appears to be a '71, '72, or possibly a '73, rather than a '70. Nonetheless, you'll enjoy your efforts to bring her back. We all wish you great success. October 4, 201014 yr comment_332498 Welcome to the group! Looks like a great start to a project. My guess is a '71 or later Z based on vents and steering wheel. What's the date of manufacture stamped on the plate on the driver's door opening?Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37282-new-from-socal/#findComment-332498 Share on other sites

October 4, 201014 yr comment_332506 Serach and ask away...I like to read new owner threads, sometimes it helps me too. Congrats on the purchase, if you are thinking of dropping a Chevy motor it Hybridz is the place to go for questions on that as this board is more a purest's site. October 6, 201014 yr Author comment_332650 Thanks for the welcome all. I'll definitely double check the year. As I was saying, I'm a total novice to the Z series, always liked 'em, just knew/know pretty much nothing about 'em. Oddly, a family friend just gave it to us out of the blue. Wife be damned, there was no way I could turn down a piece of automotive history. I'm looking forward to learning as much as possible. Thanks again! October 7, 201014 yr Author comment_332757 Welcome to the group! Looks like a great start to a project. My guess is a '71 or later Z based on vents and steering wheel. What's the date of manufacture stamped on the plate on the driver's door opening?DennisThanks for that heads up, it's a 1971. We're in the process of getting all new paperwork for it right now, the original owner had pretty much nothing.
