If you had 240Z carbs, you should hook up with Bruce and the crew in Salem. But for 280Z injection, listen to Stephen (sblake01). His real world understanding of the factory injection is invaluable.

Thanks Arne. I just know what I know based on the ownership of the two Datsuns I had with EFI, the 78 280Z and the 79 810, and the problems I faced and solved with them. I forgot to add that if it's a California car it would be equipped with a altitide switch. A malfunctioning altitude switch could also cause problems with the idle.

hey thanks for the info. I just did the brass bushing in the shifted and took it for a spin when I let it was racing around 2500 get ready to park it now its 900-1000. I'm going to check on what you said thanks alot. I'll let you know how it goes

An oxygen sensor? No, they didn't show up until later on the 280ZXs.

can you tell me anything about the BCDD?

In the factory service manual, In the EC (Emission Control System) section, pages EC-5 through EC-9, they do a better job of explaining the description, operation, inspection, removal, etc. of the BCCD than I ever could. If you don't one, here's a link:

crazy as it seems my fast idle might have something to do with my fuel filters being dirty.never would have thought that was my trouble

Don't know about injected petrol engines, but I had a Massey Ferguson diesel tractor that when the filters were dirty would gain revs, just before it coughed to a stop. I learned to change the filters more often.:stupid:
