Posted October 17, 201014 yr comment_333628 Hi again, everyone, I heard from the folks at MSA (while ordering a list of goodies) that the OEM body emblems for our z's are cast metal. That being said, a fellow forum member is parting out his '72 240z, and the emblems on the car are definitely all plastic but appear quite original (aged chrome plating, faded paint, etc). Can anyone shed some light on what emblems may have been metal or plastic? Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37411-question-about-body-emblem-material/ Share on other sites
October 17, 201014 yr comment_333635 The original emblems on the 1970 240z were all cast pot metal. At some point they switched most, if not all, of the emblems to plastic. I think the original quarter panel emblems were always pot metal (through 1973), although I have seem replacements for the 1970 that are plastic. Do a search on this site and you'll find more information about the emblems used in various years.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37411-question-about-body-emblem-material/#findComment-333635 Share on other sites
October 17, 201014 yr comment_333640 I'm sure you're correct, Mike. My '70 has PM quarter insignia and the rear vents WERE PM but got broken and are now plastic.
