October 18, 201014 yr comment_333794 The red "house" behind the transmission is a replacement (not original) speedometer cable.A red "house" is what you get when you mean to type "hose" and do a poor job typing and proof reading. Also, what is the black HOSE on HLS30-00157 that looks like it connects to the left side of the radiator?-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37413-braided-hoses-who-needs-them/?&page=2#findComment-333794 Share on other sites
October 18, 201014 yr comment_333802 That would be a restorational interpretation of ultimate correctestness. It matches the 1969 spark plug wires giving the engine bay proper color coordination. October 19, 201014 yr comment_333816 Carl, #157 may have the original 1969 dated spark plug wires, but I wouldn't say its engine bay is completely original. Hi Mike: I wouldn't either - and I didn't Maybe the owner of #157 replaced the fuel hoses with the ones that were being sold on ebay? Well the third owner did... Made a few call's to track the hisory after it was sold... Randy said that he thought John Williams had changed them.. I stand corrected - at least on this one. FWIW, Carl B. October 19, 201014 yr comment_333818 Also, what is the black HOSE on HLS30-00157 that looks like it connects to the left side of the radiator? A.C. line. The original piston compressor was replaced with the newer rotary style.. thus the removal of the air injection tube from the anti-backfire valve.#157 was never "restored" - only completly repainted in the mid 70's. The owner ran a high end body shop - and he repainted the car for his wife. Once it was done, she was afraid to drive it any longer - so it went into the Collection with something less than 30K miles {among many other amazing items}. I didn't believe that he ever changed the fuel lines.. turns out he didn't.FWIW,Carl B. October 19, 201014 yr comment_333823 I've got the same brochure that kats posted, so I went and took a look at it with a magnifying glass. Can't say about the back hose, but the front one is definitely not braided.
