kelly Posted October 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2010 I have a 71-240 Datsun Z, when i'm driving it, it seems to be a little squirrley. I have all polyurethane bushings in the front end. I have done an alignment, I have also put on new tires, and the struts are okay. What do you suggest I do to solve this problem, thanks, Joe... SteveJ Posted October 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2010 Can you post more details? What speeds does the problem show up? Can you be more descriptive than "squirrley"? Does the car pull to one side? Does the steering wheel shake?
tlorber Posted October 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 25, 2010 Your avatar looks like low profile tires, but what are you running? When I had 70's on my wheels, the car was not real responsive and had a bit of roll to it.
70 Cam Guy Posted October 25, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 25, 2010 Just to confirm, you've done the steering rack bushings? Those pretty much cured my wandering and re-centering problem. We need more to help though, what speeds do you feel this? Is it mid-turn or anything? Does the steering wheel shimmy or is the car pulling? Are you feeling bump steer or does it feel unsettled/dart-ey?Can you post your alignment numbers from the printout? Gary in NJ Posted October 25, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 25, 2010 It could be one of many things. I'd get the car on a lift and do a good inspection on the entire suspension.
d240zx2 Posted October 25, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 25, 2010 How recent are the struts? Worn rears can provide a bit of instability....
