Posted October 26, 201014 yr comment_334399 Hi all, Because the original shift stick and upholstery was plain ugly on my 260z, I decided to remove the console. I knew the PO had been busy making holes in the center console and ruining the whole thing. When I bought it: http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000105.jpg Center console and damage... http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000726.jpg http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000708.jpg http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000732.jpg I want to cover up the holes, and make it a bit more attractable so I started my home made botch job Made some nice wooden cutouts.. http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000744.jpg http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000733.jpg Fitted the "skai"- black leather http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000747.jpg http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000742.jpg Fits like a glove http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000748.jpg Remade the stereo dash and retrimmed http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000743.jpg Made a new knob..needs to be retrimmed still http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000750.jpg http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz51/H3nrY_/Datsun%20260Z/P1000751.jpg Any comments, please do !!! October 26, 201014 yr comment_334407 280Z center consoles are still available, and they fit 260Zs. I put a new one in mine earlier this year. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37490-interior-damage-by-po/#findComment-334407 Share on other sites
October 26, 201014 yr comment_334409 Good solution to a bad situation!Look at it like you just customized it, replace eventually if you want to. Or not, you may grow to like your unique solution better than OEM. October 26, 201014 yr comment_334410 That looks good. Did you put thin foam under the new trim?I had the tops of my 240 inner door trim replaced and put thin foam under the new trim.It makes for a more plush feel. October 27, 201014 yr Author comment_334462 thx for the replies, indeed I know. Its maybe better to buy a new console, but as I like to tryout new things for myself, why not. Maybe in a few months Ill decide to buy a new console. I didnt put foam below it, but used a piece of cardboard instead. it gives that bit of fluffiness I do have now a nice chrome button to be installed! will post soon ^^ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37490-interior-damage-by-po/#findComment-334462 Share on other sites
