Posted October 27, 201014 yr comment_334446 Hello, I happened to touch this,my Z432's driver's seat(Right seat) bottom has a stitch in the middle of the front face. But there is no such a thing for the passenger's seat (Left seat) bottom. My seats are original as I have been recognizing so far.But I am not for sure right now.Which one is correct for the early S30? The texture is truely original, seat back and bottom. They have a little scratch but they are very good condition from Jan 1970.I am very happy with my seats. The seat bottom had fixed in some time? How about yours? kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37495-is-this-a-new-find/ Share on other sites

October 28, 201014 yr comment_334511 Kats, I don't recall seeing that seem on any of my 1969 production cars, but I only have one of them at the house now and it has original seats from a later car in it. Yours looks like they just had a piece of vinyl that they stitched together in the front, since it wouldn't be very visible. I would guess it is original rather than a repair.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37495-is-this-a-new-find/#findComment-334511 Share on other sites

November 16, 201014 yr Author comment_336119 Hi, I am not for sure we have discussed already or not , about a tail gate support. My Z432 has this support, but my U.S spec 240Z has different style. Are they correct for each build date or domestic/export ? I have no idea about this, please tell me anything you know. kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37495-is-this-a-new-find/#findComment-336119 Share on other sites

November 18, 201014 yr comment_336364 Hey Kats, Sorry for the horribly late reply, but I did not find that stitching on my Fairlady Z or 240Z Interesting that DMC-Z found the same thing. Too bad I do not have HLS30-05998 anymore, which is very close to DMC-Z's 5389, or else I would check. Definitely gives your Z some character though, haha. August 20, 20186 yr Author comment_555754 Hi , thank you spitz 17 , this is an old thread , I want to put something about the stitching at the seat bottom. My Z432 has the vertical stitching as you can see , I must say it is not the original. The seat bottom must be repaired at some point in the past . I looked the vinyl closely, and found it is different from the other side . Today I visited Mr . Sudo , he is a real craftsman of upholstery for S30 . He said my Z432 ‘s stitching is not original, he has been dedicated doing the job more than 30 years , he knows what is original. I placed an order to him for a set of my early seats three years ago , he said I will be the final customer for his S30 seats restoration, he has been saying when the vinyl runs out , he quit the restoration for S30 . He has sufficient amount of vinyl for GTR , so he his work continuously being made , but not in a hurry. I am waiting it’s completion, he already made some pieces, I can’t wait to see it . He of course knows about the difference of early and late model , he uses various kind of tools for each model. if you are the upholstery guy , you can tell how he make the seats nicely and there are numerous his experiences fully applied. He said he would be the only man who was successfully able to access to the original vinyl manufacturer other than Nissan . He managed to make the manufacture to find out the original mold and make it useable , then the manufacturer accepted his order , some length of roll (maybe 100 meters ? ) , he did it a long time ago , he said he was not sure he would be doing right thing or not . Soon after the cooperation with the manufacturer, the manufacturer was merged by a big company , then unable to make the vinyl again . I said he did it right for us !
