Posted October 30, 201014 yr comment_334673 I just bought what i think was a deal, a 1980 10th anniversary car for $3000 and a 79 280zx for $900-both are running. I don't know very much about these cars. they are both in good condition, neither one of them have any rust. the AE car is running okay, i think its just out of time really bad. the AE is manual 5 speed and the 79 is automatic. I was wondering do they make turbos for these models? would i want to do that? Also i was wondering why the zx is looked at so differently than the z. I will post pictures soon. thankyou. October 30, 201014 yr comment_334675 The turbo 280Zx didn't come out until the 1981 model year. Generally I hear its not a great idea to slap on a turbo to an older engine, but you could always swap in an engine from a 280ZX turbo. The reason the 280Zx is looked upon differently than the S30 was they had more of a slant towards luxury/comfort. October 30, 201014 yr Author comment_334709 so it would hurt a 1980 engine if i was to put a turbo on it? i found out today that the 79 zx has an 83 motor in it but it is an automatic so i dont know if the turbo would benefit it.. also i have heard mixed rumors of the amount of 10th anniversary cars left in existance. can anyone here clarify a number for me. October 31, 201014 yr comment_334715 There were 3000 10th AE cars manufactured....but not sure how many are left.I've always heard its not a great idea to put a turbo on an older engine....but maybe its a case-by-case thing.
