I found another one for sale: http://www.zcar.com/cars_sale_1970-83_240z_260z_280z_280zx/1972_datsun_fairlady_z_for_sale_894326.0.html

I remember someone wanting one. From the pictures this one looks to be in pretty good shape.

From the pics he provided, the engine is stock 2.4L. It's either typo (on both posts?) or he doesn't know what he's selling. Nice car though even its missing part from the rear.

Looks like an L20A to me ( judging from the scale of the carbs, they look like HJG38s ).

What makes you think its "2.4L" from the photos, and what part is it missing "from the rear"?

what part is it missing "from the rear"?

Alan, I believe he may be referring to the damaged left rear panel that the seller mentioned. From the ad.. "While being driven one of the old tires blew out (left rear) and damaged part of the passenger rear quarter panel."

A photo of the damage is shown below.

Aha, I see what you mean. I was looking around for anything obviously missing rather than damaged / hacked off.

Shame about the sunroof, and to a lesser extent the side trims and re-upholstery job. Other than that it seems like a nice honest example that's 'had a life'......
