Posted November 4, 201014 yr comment_335097 Hey guys, Was this a special model or year with the underdoor plates? I really like this bronze one, but I don't understand when he says that it has a different body style than the 240z and 260z. I thought the 240z and 280z had the same body shell? November 4, 201014 yr comment_335102 Same "basic" body shell 240/260/280Z but there are subtle, mostly invisible differences. The lower cladding is aftermarket, or dealer installed. Not factory. Looks like a great car. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37569-special-280z/#findComment-335102 Share on other sites
November 4, 201014 yr comment_335107 All of my 280z's have that cladding along the bottom. Don't know that I have ever seen one that didn't have it. Never seen it on the 260 or 240 though... That is a very nice car, but he is a bit misimformed about the changes in the body style. It is just a 280z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37569-special-280z/#findComment-335107 Share on other sites
November 4, 201014 yr comment_335115 I rarely see the cladding on them around here. It's not factory. It was popular about 20 years ago when people bought the cladding to cover rust. Ironically, the mounting screws accelerated the rust. November 4, 201014 yr comment_335124 I wonder if the cladding was a regional thing perhaps? I am in the Pacific Northwest. Any other areas (your neighborhood) where it was common/popular?
