5thhorsemann Posted November 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) I've been looking for a fiberglass airdam like the one shown here, but I'm having a hard time finding this type without the blinker holes. I have the fiberglass shugar scoops and I want to eliminate the bumper and glass the whole front end together, no seams. I'm finding them all day long in ABS, or with blinker cut outs, but this is the one I want, without blinkers, with the rectangular ducts. So far I'm having no luck. If anyone has one they are looking to get out from under, I'm looking to buy. Don't care if it is damaged, I can fix the fiberglass while I'm moulding the parts together. I do have a reasonably clean front bumper with all the brackets & trimmings (the parking hornes are not so nice), as well as the AC system, less the thermostat and, flat top carbs with the intake & exhaust manafolds (stock) and smog pump, that I would be willing to trade, or sell outright. this is all 1973 240Z stuff. gnosez Posted November 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2010 Other than the looks why do you want an airdam with holes in it? Just wondering.
5thhorsemann Posted November 11, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted November 11, 2010 I like the look for one, It also provides a place to glass in support brackets. Im loosing the steel headlamp buckets and feel more support down low would be a good thing.
Arne Posted November 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 11, 2010 If you are going to go to that much glass work anyway, how about buying a glass dam w/blinker holes and cover them when you do the rest of it. You did say you've found glass dams with blinker holes, didn't you?
5thhorsemann Posted November 12, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) Simpley put, the smaller the patch, the easier it is to get it right. Right? Besides, thats a deep pit to fill, three times the material. Edited November 12, 2010 by 5thhorsemann
gnosez Posted November 12, 2010 Share #6 Posted November 12, 2010 There is no reason to buy an airdam with holes and then glass them over so you attach some support. And the holes aren't even in the right place to give you the support you need (think center and then off about 10-inches on each side of center).Have you read the results from the Hybridz wind tunnel tests? More coverage, fewer holes.
gnosez Posted November 12, 2010 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2010 How about these instead?

Unkle Posted November 12, 2010 Share #9 Posted November 12, 2010 I've never regretted the previous owner installing a non fibreglass edpm? dam. The parking bump stops here are 7'' plus and I've crunched into them several times with no real damage other than some paint work ! Most new low cars are built with these but they look cheaper than mine. You know, that ''crunch'' sound when Grandma knows when to stop pulling up at the bank........ EScanlon Posted November 12, 2010 Share #11 Posted November 12, 2010 I think this is the closest you'll find:http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7AD1/50-1412The 70-early 74 all had the turn signal/front park lamp mounted below the sugar scoops. The air dam you're seeking, as you've described it, would only be used on a late 74 to 78 S30, since those have the turn signals in the grille opening. The problem is that the later style is designed to function WITH the front bumper, and no pictures are given showing it without the bumper.E
