You can always try to use the Internet Wayback Machine. It doesn't do much good if the site was a business, but it helps for tech tip sites that may have fallen by the wayside.

This type of resource is invaluable. Each of us has a library like this, some small, some large. Most are incomplete.

And as has been pointed out, having a good description of what is to be found in the link would aid tremendously.

I have links in these major categories.

1. Commercial businesses that sell Z goods and services (like MSA, Black Dragon, Wolf Creek Racing),

2. Informal home businesses that sell Z custom parts or services. (like Zsondabrain's wiring harness upgrades)

3. Sites that contain primarily Z information, tech help or specifications (ie zHome.org, atlanticz.ca, xenons30.com )

4. Sites that sell general parts, tools and services items used in auto service, restoration or car modification. (ie Summitracing, AutoZone, McMasterCarr, boltsupplyHouse etc)

5. Businesses from which I purchased a particularly useful item related to working on a Z. Brake lines, JIC hardware, specialty items, etc.

You could create many such groups. Z Race prep shops, (Rebello), Used Z parts suppliers (zspecialties.com), Z restoration businnesses (Classic Datsun), etc

Unfortunately, in a thread like this, where many put there favorite links in what will become a long list of threads, while superficially helpful, will also go to be difficult to search and maintain.

Now if our grand web master Mike would care to contemplate something truely useful for us, I would suggest he build us a system that provides us with a single page resource, where users can add links into a segmented tree-like structure. Take a look at Rock Auto's parts search tree for an idea of what I'm talking about.

The system would require the admin to set the root folders (named by major search groups as above, suggested and agreed to by the users). Users can then freely add nodes to each root folder node by supplying a URL, "type" Tag, and a General and Specific description.

I'de like to see this within CZCC, rather than have a well meaning member with a web site offer to host it. Same goes for using a shared Excel based website. Something this potentially useful and alive should be professionally maintained and backed up reliably, something I know Mike would do remarkably well.

Ideas gang? How would you implement this?
