November 13, 201014 yr comment_335847 Pretty much anything. I use whatever weight motor oil I have handy. All it is there for is to improve heat transfer and reduce the possibility of rust inside the tube. So it doesn't matter much what you use. November 14, 201014 yr comment_335940 We have found rubbing a light coating of heavy grease or Anti-seize on the strut insert prevents rust and seizing of the insert to the inside of the strut tube. Occasionally, moisture can seep down into the strut tube. With using oil the water and oil stay separated and the moisture tends to collect and alllow rust to occur. With antifreeze, there are the rust inhibiters built in but don't seem to last very long.Just my 2 cents from experience...Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37655-struts/#findComment-335940 Share on other sites
