January 12, 201114 yr Author comment_341725 Quote Are you having trouble?Well, my reverse light come on in 4th gear. I read another post about this but it ended saying to adjust it or replace it. They didn't mention how the adjustment was made, figure it just screws straight in. Any help would b great.... January 12, 201114 yr comment_341728 dumb question, and I'm full of them this week, but are ya sure you got the right hole?Like I said, it's a dumb question but I gotta ask. You're right, they typically screw right in. I was unaware of an adjustability.that's weird,Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37683-reverse-light-switch-4spd-to-5-spd/#findComment-341728 Share on other sites
January 12, 201114 yr Author comment_341730 I wasn't real clear about my issues in the first place, so no dumb ?'s. I've obtained a replacement switch but have yet to get the car up on jack stands to replace it. I was just making sure there wasnt some magic adjustment that I needed to make instead of just swapin old for new. Thanks for the speedy response!.... I'll let u know what I find. January 12, 201114 yr comment_341766 As Dave alluded to above, when I installed my 5 speed, I noticed a second hole, farther back than the one on the 4 speed. I just put the switch in the same hole location as that from the 4 speed (forward hole) and haven't had any problems. I'm not sure what the second hole is for. January 12, 201114 yr comment_341816 The later five speeds have switches that operate the spark timing control in 4th and 5th gear. If you hook the reverse light leads up to one of those, that would cause the reverse lights to come on in the corresponding gear. Was it to retard timing in the higher gears?
