skyrit Posted November 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2010 Has anyone ever heard of this? A friend of mine mentioned this to me in reference to a "clunking" sound in the rear end of my 71 240. As best I can decipher he is talking about something in the differential. Could it be drive shaft related? Thanks for any help.
cygnusx1 Posted November 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) The Z's have universal joints. Guibo joints are like rubber doughnuts...very similar to the steering coupler found in our cars. My Alfa Romeo had one in the driveshaft. As for the clunking, do a search for clunk and you will find hundreds of posts!!! Edited November 23, 2010 by cygnusx1
Arne Posted November 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 23, 2010 BMWs use 'em too. Not 240Zs.
lmcguffin Posted November 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 23, 2010 I've been to Guilbeau's (rhymes with t-bow), a joint near New Orleans that sells Dixie beer and boiled crawfish....Sorry for the bad pun... couldn't resist when I saw the thread... skyrit Posted November 24, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted November 24, 2010 yeh, my friend is into bmw's so I'm sure he was thinking in those terms, just didn't catch on at the time. Good stuff guys, much appreciated. Going to search "clunk" now and then maybe off to New Orleans....
