I parked in the local shopping centre today.

Young bloke comes up and says,"What is it, I haven't seen one of these before"

Let him spend a few minutes looking over my baby while I gave him a rundown on the car's history. A totally fictitious history that is.

I actually had him convinced that my Zed was an extremely rare, short wheel based prototype of the E Type Jag.

Oh yes, by the way, I told him the truth before I left. After all, the true history of the Zed is more interesting than that of the short wheel based prototype of the E Type Jag.

Rick.

He He He good one.

Lots of people look at my Zed and tell me that Zeds are OK but they have always wanted an E-type.

I can't see why people like E-types more that Zeds.

They are:

* More expensive to buy

* Less reliable

* Don't look as good (Why couldn't they put the wheels in the arches properly?)

* More expensive to fix

* British

(No offence meant to E-type owners, or the British, or British E-type owners)

I think a lot of people would say the E-type is prettier. Not trying to be unloyal or whatever but personally I find them absolutely gorgeous. The Z is too, but not nearly as heart-stopping IMO.

I can't say I like the styling of the coupe 2+2 though :sick:

THe e-type is sex on wheels, but the reasons people want them are as follows:

-Small Cat badge on front

-So they can boast about how much they payed for it (About 10k aus for a bonnet)

-Their rare self rust prevention system (Oil leaks being thrown along the underbody not matter what you do to them)

-Those suckers for punishment who think its a good idea to have to disassemble the whole front of a car and drop the motor and gearbox out htrought the floor, after removing front suspension just to replace a clutch.

Other than that i can think of no reasons. But I'm sure some more will come

E-Types are gorgeous FHC or rag tops (early ones I mean) but they look so fragile. The Zs' package is graceful but muscular in a small, neat package and that's what so different - it's compact !

Worked for rallys and races.

In Oct during a 6 hr race I watched a 240 finish ahead of every 911, Austin Healeys, a lightweight E-Type and two Chevrons!

Incidentally, my introduction to Zeds was via en established Jaguar fan who still has his MK1 3.8 FHC.

His son Steve has a 240Z and a Skyline !
