370Z, anybody drive one yet?

So My girlfriend wants to go look at a 370Z sport demo, she says we can pick it up for under $25k if we buy before the end of the year. I had a 350Z touring and loved the car as a driver, but thought it a was bit ugly, with that awful hump in the roof and the corner lights. The 370 fixed alot of those things that I didn't like about the 350 and is in my opinion a sharp looking car. As I understand it, it was for the last 5 or 6 months, a managers take home car and it has about 12000 miles on the clock. I'm gonna show up at the dealership in my 240 for the test drive. If I can get this car for that money, I'll be building a car barn over the Holiday's.

Let me know how the drive goes. I've wanted a new z since the 350 came out, and I've really wanted one when the 370 upped the ante. It will be my next daily driver, I have to finish wearing out my FJ Cruiser though, so I'm still about 2 years out.

I can tell you that the 350 was an awesom driver, one of the saddest days of my life when it got wrecked. That car took a shot in the rear by a jeep wagoneer at 55mph (I was stopped) and I walked away without so much as a bruise. It pushed the hatch onto the roof about 7" and shortened the car by about a foot, and wedged the spare tire against the rear strut brace so tightly that we couldn't budge it. NONE of the glass broke, the doors and hatch stayed closed, and the air bags DID NOT go off.

It was one tough, and super fun car to own. The 240 showed up outside my bedroom window before I made a decision to get a used 350 or a new 370. I fell in love with it and sort of swindled the PO out of the car. With this new opportunity,it looks like this may end up making the decision for me.

I drove a 370 and I was a bit disappointed. The 350's I drove felt way more like an S30 than the 370 did. While the 370 is better looking and nicer inside, it lost a lot of the character that the 350 had. It felt bigger and heavier even though it is neither.

+1 My 350Z was a total blast to drive. I agree its most like the S30 in terms of performance and value for the money. I really miss mine!

I've had my 370z for 1 1/2 yrs and love it. I've driven the 350z and really like the car but the 370z is a big improvement in most aspects. The fit and finish of the interior is superior. The handling is on par with the 350 if not better. Power wise, the 370 feels alot quicker than the 350, but thats just what my butt dyno says. My only complaint with the 370 is the quality of the paint. Its garbage. bugs and bird dropping eat right through the clear coat in no time. Overall, I'm glad I waited for the 370 vs the 350.

I can't imagine that the driving experience of a 350Z or 370Z can be nearly like any S30. Can it? I need to try it myself, but I would be very surprised. I am not saying one is better than the other. I just can't imagine them being remotely similar, asides from the front engine RWD layout, characteristics.

you can bet that there is a huge differance

the 350 is like driving a roles roice being launched from a cannnnon compared to the 240. Aside frome the liniage, what would be the conection?

I can no closer come to the joy of high speed 350 driving, in a 240,than I can come to the pure "Feel it in your pants" tight road driving a 240, in a 350.

The new cars with their power everthing, makes for a cool ride.

But, the seat of your pants feel of a car, that was designed to spark a feeling in the seat of your paints, is the old dog. drive in the 240, you steer it, you shift it, you drive it, you'll love it

OK, you win.

i have driven both the 350z and 370z, I would choose a 370 out of the two. Of course they are not the same as a 240 but look at why you want it. Bang for buck the 370z is awesome. Sports and touring package was what i was looking at the synchro rev match is awesome. Of course you can still do that with foot work but it is very clever and a nice touch. Thing that got me in the 370 is how much bigger it felt but the cockpit felt more cramped than my 240. I agree the finish isn't the best but that is where they went cheaper to save vehicle cost. I ended up getting a Mazdaspeed3 as better bang for buck and it could carry scuba gear for two people. I drove at a few dealerships many don't even know what the 240z is :(. Also might not help driving in with a Z as they will already know you are keen and hooked and you might not get the best deal. Really depends on the dealership though.
