dmorales-bello Posted October 28, 2018 Share #253 Posted October 28, 2018 Update on this old but always pertinent post: As per @2377kn preference on his research on green LEDs, I got hold of some of the same bulbs from Amazon (bulb # 6 in his post) and went back to green lighting on my gauges in an effort to dial back the "mod" in restomod inside the cabin. Along with the Datsun Comp steering wheel and the original shift knob on the short-shifter shaft, the green instrument lighting fits right in and everything looks proper.

If you don't understand much about electrical issues and LEDs, rely on a website like Superbrightleds.com. The exterior bulbs will be 1156, 1157 and type 67 (marker lights and license plate lights). Match the color of the LEDs to the color of the lens. For interior, most will be BA9 bulbs. You may have to remove the lens from the gauges to get the LED bulbs to fit, though. I can't remember the festoon bulb size for the dome off the top of my head, and the map light will differ between the 240Z and the 260Z/280Z. Some of the interior lights in the 260Z & 280Z will be BA7 (hazard, seat belt, etc.).

Mine will not dim with the dimmer control. However I did not find them too bright at night. 72 body and block, everything else 71, Tokico springs, Illumina, R180 CLSD, 83 close ratio, 3.90 gears, Ztherapy SUs, BRE 15X7 Libre wheels and BRE front spoiler. 2377kN Posted June 1, 2019 Share #260 Posted June 1, 2019 Got an update to my LED Dash Light Upgrades. About a month ago, the brake warning light began to act funny. It started off by glowing really dimly even when it was not supposed to be illuminated. Then it would flicker brighter when hitting bumps in the road. I checked all the connections, and looked for the relay under the passenger seat. I could not find the relay, but everything fine otherwise. I decided to pull the bulb and check it out. Turns out the bulb was faulty. When hooked up to a good battery the bulb would flicker when shaken. The other red LED bulbs I still had are way too bright so I put a stock tungsten bulb back in for now. The rest of the LED interior bulbs have worked great.
SteveJ Posted February 6, 2022 Author Share #261 Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) Here's the latest list I have after working on the 240Z for a while. I'm also including H4 headlight housings and H4 LED bulbs. I like the Hella H4 housings because they look more period appropriate. The H4 bulbs I listed are polarity independent, so that's nice. White LED (license plate and reverse lights) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XWWJ4N4 Amber LED (front side markers) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XWXXPN5 Red LED (rear side markers) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XWX81ZD Red 1157 LED (rear turn signals and brake lights) - Recommendation removed due to bulb failure Amber 1157 LED (front turn signals) - Recommendation removed due to bulb failure Green LED (gauge lights - green lenses) Recommendation changed to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092VNXS6H because they are bright and fit under the lenses.
