moritz55 Posted December 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) Folks, I'm looking at two 370z's on Saturday, 12/18/2010 and welcome thoughts and recommendations as I'm serious about buying one before year end. Both cars are certifed-used from dealers and have the Nissan warranty. I'm looking forward to test drivng both. Car #1) Black Cherry 2010 , 370z Sports Coupe with 498 miles. Comes with colored splash guards, Z carpet mats and the full 6spd manual Mech Syncro Shift, Sports Package with 19" Rims, Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A tires. Original sticker sale price was $34,250. Asking price is .. $29,900 . Car #2) Gray 2009 , 370z Touring & Sports Coupe with 14,026 miles. Comes with Z carpets (no splash guards) and the full 6spd manual Mech Syncro Shfit, Sports AND Touring Package options with same 19" Rims, Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A tires. Interior is all leather two-tone and has the Bose 8 speaker sound system. Original sticker price in 2009 was around $35,500. Asking price is ... $28,900. Any feedback in helping me decide between cars is welcome. I know the Sports/Touring Coupe combination has many nice features over the Sports Coupe. I've never driven or rode in the 370Z , but by all I've read the 370z beats the 350z by quite a lot and I did enjoy the 350z. So I'm looking forward to the ride.... Here are the photos of both cars. Many thanks in advance.... Edited December 18, 2010 by moritz55
1970Datsun240z Posted December 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2010 Hmmmm...Yeah I can't decide. Both beautiful. It seems as though you should be able to talk down the 2009 model since you can get the 2010 for that price, even with the 2009 having the Touring package.Good luck with your decision!John
ajmcforester Posted December 18, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 18, 2010 Go new let the nicks and scratches be yours not someones you bought. I don't trust anyone who get rid of a car that quick, was everything maintained well over the ownership, I bet if they got rid of it that quick not to my standards. Also it is end of year time so you can work it to get the price down. If you want some of the options that are not on the car use that after they stop going down in price, you might get them to throw some of them on after the fact your they might budge. I did that with my FJ Cruiser, got the fully loaded model (after they ordered everything) under dealership cost, and in the color and transmission setup I wanted (manual). I purchased at $25,000 what MSRP $39,500 over 35% off in 2007 when these were selling 6 months before for $5,000 over MSRP on average
Travel'n Man Posted December 18, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) If any of those cars (new or used) are on the stealers lots on Jan 1st it's costing them inventory tax dollars. Hold themout for two weeks - get them on the hook and chain and they will beg you for the purchase the last calendar day of 2010.........all IMO! It's a different game when you have them and they don't have you!By the way - that Black Cherry is HOT! cozye Posted December 18, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 18, 2010 Invoice on a 2010 370z touring with sport package is $35k, thats what you can buy a new left over 2010 for, maybe a bit less.Personally I prefer leather. And I'd HAVE to have that syncro shift!!! So that would make it a touring/sport package for me. I'm envious. My next daily driver will be a 370. I've still got some miles to wear out on my FJ first though.
moritz55 Posted December 18, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the bargaining advice from all of you. I did have a Dealer who I use to buy my cars from when I lived in Minnesota get me auction price data last night and he said the 2010 Black Cherry car is about $1000 above the auction price where as the 2009 Gray with 14k miles is close to $2000 above the auction price. He felt the 2010 was clearly a better deal starting out. The Sports options with the 6spd Mech Syncro, spoiler, 19" Rims and Larger Disc/Calipers carry more value than the Touring Options, primarily becuase this is more a sports car for enthusiasts (heated leather seats when the car is used in mild weather only tends to be a waste and the 8speaker Bose in a small car like this doesn't make a huge difference especially given both cars have iPod/MPE Aux input jacks for the driver's choice anyway. The Aluminum trim pedals is a nice touch however that comes with the Touring package). My plan is to keep this car in my North Carolina residence garaged. So at best I'll be putting 2000-3000 miles on per year similar to my 1973 240z. It will never see snow, salt or much rain for that matter. Anyway , I'll keep you posted ! ajmcforester Posted December 18, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 18, 2010 The twisty's in the North Carolina mountains are some of the best in the world!! Their nice, but they have a hard time competing with Colorado's. Yours aren't as long.
Gary in NJ Posted December 18, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 18, 2010 If it's going to be a daily driver, get the gray car (Touring). The 370 is a great car and a nice addition to your S30.
Stickerman Posted December 18, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 18, 2010 If you are only going to put about 2500 miles on the car each year the gray one already has 5.5 years of miles on it (in your case). I would get the 2010
cozye Posted December 18, 2010 Share #11 Posted December 18, 2010 Their nice, but they have a hard time competing with Colorado's. Yours aren't as long. You haven't been on the right roads then. I go down to NC about 3 or 4 times a year on the bike. I can ride 500 miles in one day on nothing but super curvy roads, all double yellow. Some roads are 50+ miles long before you even hit a stop sign. More than enough to wear anyone out and never hit the same road twice. That doesn't even include Northern GA

My understanding was that the Touring added the nicer interior, but if purchased with the sport package you got the best of both?
