Posted December 20, 201014 yr comment_339329 I was installing my driver side rear wheel cylinder yesterday and I had an accident. A small one but my gosh it makes your heart sink so low. I am a very careful and meticulous mechanic. Not sure why I was in a hurry, but I turned around from my work bench and a 10mm gear wrench slipped from hand and I counted the milliseconds as it tumbled end over end toward my pristine hood. My car rock chips here and there, it is not a concourse by any means, but it is a very clean driver. As that wrench hit my hood, man images flashed through my head. The Hindenburg burning, the first A-bomb tested in the desert, the first time I saw a pontiac Aztek. The sound a metal wrench makes on clear coat is just horrendous. Like a million fingernails being scratched on a chalkboard at once. I have a new chip on my car now. Luckily no dent, but if you have ever had am moment when you hear yourself saying NoOOOOOOoooooooooo!!! in slow motion this was it. :disappoin:disappoin:disappoin Why God, why!! December 20, 201014 yr comment_339330 I know what you are talking about, I'm a confirmed klutz. I once tripped over my wife's IV while she was in the last stages of labor. The IV bag came crashing to the ground and ripped out of her arm. Yep, slow motion and nothing you can do about it. I'm glad there is no dent. You should be able to touch and buff so you won't even be able to see it! December 20, 201014 yr comment_339332 Bummer! I know the feeling. I watched helplessly as my granddaughter's bicycle fell over and a silver dollar sized divot was chipped off my windshield that was leaning up against the wall. The piece was floating in mid air in slow motion, while I stood there thinking how stupid I was. I was the only one in the garage at the time, moving things around.PS - This car has a few chips on it too, but the owner uses a little creativity, so they are not so noticeable...feel any better yet? December 20, 201014 yr comment_339334 the first time I saw a pontiac Aztek. Now there's a horrific mental image if ever there was one.Been there, dented that. Those are the character lines on a cars face that make the vehicle yours. I just pictured this ridiculous chain of events ending in your wife yelling at you so hard that the baby shoots out into the Dr.'s arms as he walks in the door to check on all the ruckus . December 20, 201014 yr comment_339338 Sorry to hear about your incident, I truly realized how devastating it was when you compared it to seeing the Pontiac Aztec for the first time. I just hope you won't need counselling now ;-) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37994-i-need-an-e-hug/#findComment-339338 Share on other sites
December 20, 201014 yr comment_339359 This Fall, I had an acorn slam the hood of my silver Z as I was driving. About 5 minutes later, BING, another acorn slams the hood. I get home and look to see two dents, about 2" apart on the front right corner of the hood. My paint is show level, better than factory...argh. What are the freaking odds! I know the feeling. Hats off to the non-trailer queens!!! December 20, 201014 yr comment_339362 Oh, the humanity! That's a complete bummer and I know *exactly* how you feel.I chipped the paint when installing the rear tail-light facia and had to do a touch-up. Also put two scratches in my freshly painted engine compartment that I can't touch-up. I've come to think of them as my "personalization" of the car.Hopefully the chip in your hood will touch-up & buff-out OK. December 20, 201014 yr comment_339364 Nice alpine E90^We both use to be board members at BimmerBoards.com/Hotbimmer.com. I was a mod there for many years until the site went down. Never was able to get hold of Tom. Nice E34 you have.... December 20, 201014 yr comment_339367 Ahhh^ I was always on bimmerforums.comMy E34 is a never ending project. Tons & tons of upgrades and hopefully turbo coming first quarter of next year. Then I think I will either get a mint alpine E39 M5 or a decent used Apine E60 M5. December 20, 201014 yr comment_339369 E-HUG!! My '78 suffered a scratch and a ding, secondary to two transient kutzery events, so I'm one ahead of you. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/37994-i-need-an-e-hug/#findComment-339369 Share on other sites
