Posted December 1, 200222 yr comment_20093 I've got 240Z number 319 (made 11/69). It is almost completely stock. Everything looks good except the interior. After 33 years the plastic is falling apart. Valuewise I'm trying to decide whether to leave the interior ugly and originial or to make it nice. Any recommendations??MarkMatthews, NC Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3802-leave-stock-or-not-leave-stock/ Share on other sites

December 1, 200222 yr comment_20097 With a car with that early a production date, I would go original. It will be worth a lot more later if you keep it close to stock. Look at Classic Datsun Motorsports for interior plastic, and Too Intense Restorations has some of the rest of the needed pieces. It will be worth it in the long run given how early the car is in the production run......Some people have all the luck... December 1, 200222 yr Author comment_20100 Michael,I just posted a picture from last year. I recently put some nice 280ZX wheels on the car. I bought this car in 1979. Its been a nice toy ever since. At the time I owned a 260Z, but when I saw the serial number on this one I had to buy it. I still frequently drive the car.Mark Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3802-leave-stock-or-not-leave-stock/#findComment-20100 Share on other sites
December 1, 200222 yr comment_20101 Man that car looks nice! Keep her original, I'd even go so far as making sure you had the original wheels in the garage in case you go to sell her or take her to a show. I'm up for adoption if you need somebody to "will" the car toROFL Dwight'72 pumpkin that nees some TLC Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3802-leave-stock-or-not-leave-stock/#findComment-20101 Share on other sites

April 4, 200321 yr Author comment_32664 The interior is black. I am staying mostly original. As you can see on the recent picture in the gallery I did put 280ZX wheels on it. New floor pans are next. It may take a while to save up the $ for the interior. April 5, 200321 yr comment_32741 If you have'nt already gotten the idea that we all think you should keep it stock let me add my 2 cents. You have one of the coveted '69 240 Z's. Nissan made right at 500 Z's in October, November, and December of 1969. These are according to Carl Beck the "classic" and most collectible of the Z cars. And they are the most valuable, if you leave it stock or restore it to stock condition. I myself would love to have a sub 500 Z car (mine is #2265) but they are few and far between. My opinion, leave it stock, if money is tight do only what you can afford to do at the time, and get it done right! Don't cut corners. These early cars deserve to live some more days and really should be kept original. Make sure that the parts you get for it are correct for an Early Z the more original and correct it is the more it will be worth. P.S. If you are interested in selling it let me know I would love to have it. April 5, 200321 yr comment_32801 stock, but thats just me. I know what you mean when you say interior parts are VERy expensive. just do little by little and it wont be so bad. It might take a year or two to finish the interior, but it wont be such a financial crunch for you. Ebay is an awesome place to find new or used parts. but you miust be diligent in scanning Ebay each day or every other day and set it on new listings Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3802-leave-stock-or-not-leave-stock/#findComment-32801 Share on other sites
