Posted December 31, 201014 yr comment_340332 I'm not sure exactly what these are called... we always referred to them as "battery covers." I'm talking about the small, removable covers that allow access to the battery and master cylinder (IIRC). About 10x6 inches, they install on each side of the hood into the top of the fender, very near the base of the windshield. I took mine in for engine work and some brainless dingbat lost them. They swear they'll find them for me, but by that time cars will be replaced by hovercraft. The local junkyards aren't providing much... anyone know where I can find a cheap set? Thanks! December 31, 201014 yr Author comment_340333 By any chance are these parts properly called "inspection lids?" December 31, 201014 yr comment_340339 A lot of air gets trapped against the firewall. someone was making louvered inspection lids. This may help release the trapped air since it looks like your racing the car. It might not matter I don't know what speeds your reaching and if it would make a difference. January 1, 201114 yr Author comment_340368 AHA! Thank you! That's just what I needed. Yes, I'm racing the car and yes, air trapped against the firewall is a concern. We'll be doing 130 mph or so at some tracks this year so the louvers are probably a good idea. Thanks again. January 1, 201114 yr comment_340380 Another thing you could look at to help at high speeds is the G-nose that Datsun made for better aerodynamics in the 70's Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38089-need-a-set-of-battery-covers-small-covers-in-top-of-fender-for-260z/#findComment-340380 Share on other sites
