Finally got to drive the "Barn Find"

Great way to end the year. I've been working on getting all systems go again after this thing sat for 23 New Years. It's finally officially out of hibernation. Took my daughter out for a drive today and in just the time it took to get a couple miles to the gas station I got two thumbs up, one peace sign from a guy in a bimmer, a guy in a Firebird almost spun his neck around getting a look, and a guy at the gas station almost molested the car. Too much fun.

All in all, the car dives fantastic with no rattles, squeeks, smoke, or vibrations. The struts are a little soft, but the car had almost 80k on it before being parked so they will be next on the list. I'll try and post a pic or two of how she sits now.

In CA I bet they know what it is in. Philly I get asked who makes it, is it fast, what European country is it from, who is the manufacture of Datsun, and if I run into someone who was into cars in the 70's they start to yell in excitement ushally stating I haven't seen one of those in 15 years that is so (cool, sick . . .), that is such a keller car and on and on.

Did you restore the car or was that the paint that came on the car. If that is the paint on the car when you found it you can call it a barn find, trust me they don't look that good coming out of a barn.

Very nice! That is a great looking "barn find".

I took my car out for a spin to the office today (40 miles one way) and did not get one look, thumps up, etc. the entire round-trip.

No, no restoration of the paint. Although I have to admit it looks much better in pics. It' s really a 10 footer, but I'll eventually repaint it. It is really untouched from when I got it unless you call a wash and buff touchin it. I did do a little quick polish on the wheels though. There are some pics when I got it in "my photos".

Congrats, man. Keep it original for as long as you can stand then do something about it (see my gallery). Enjoy it first and foremost. I highly recommend Tokico suspension pieces/parts though, that's what I did to mine after the "refreshing" ...

Congrats on the car. Always liked the dark green. What colour is the interior?

It's always such a buzz when the younger guys and the girls appreciate our old Dattos' One thing we get with ours, is guys wanting a race on the motorway. Usually have the missus with me and she keeps me on a short leash.':finger: Just too old to feel this damn young.':classic:
