February 14, 201114 yr comment_345950 Looks like you will have to remove windshield and weld in new metal since the cowl cannot be removed. February 27, 201114 yr comment_347511 You will have to cut out all those rust areas or the whole cowl and get one off a donor car. While in there look and take care of ALL rust sports.Rust is a cancer and even a pin hole will grow. These cars are wonderfull but prone to rust.Get after it fast.Temporary - and only temp to try and kill the rust is to soak with kerosine - but this is short term till you cut it out.Good luck - and keep that baby girl running.Don't worry what you paid - everyone has to add at least $1000 to any used car they buy just for starters to get it to factory spec.Consider: any car you buy used or new is going to cost - but if you bought a car for $2K and drive it for one year and no real major money put in - then you're way ahead of the game.In 2 years you paid $1K per year. If you fix her up - mechanicals and body then amortize over the life of the car and you will have the greatest bargain around. These are driver's cars - put a price on pleasure. Put a price on excellence. As the most interesting man in the world will tell you: "Drive happy my friend". March 21, 201114 yr comment_350098 I've never had to do it, but it looks like the fenders will have to be removed as well as the chrome. Then something tells me the glass also so you can cut it out. Do it now...I'm afraid you'll find more.
