I'm looking to find how far it is from the head to the end of the air cleaner. I know this will depend on a few variables, like which air cleaner you are using, but looking to see if this is 8, 10, 12 or more inches.

I'm thinking a triple Z motor would look quite nice in the Healey :) The car is off to be painted while I get the engine figured out.

It's the manifold that determines total overall length of the assembly. If it's too long, obtain a shorter manifold (if you don't have the short one already).

With Mikuni carbs, there were two manifold styles, one for regular street driving (shorter), the other longer for competition. K&N has filter assemblies that allow fitment for both.

I just measured my set up which is triple webers, cannon intake manifold and K&N filter.

From head to end of K&N filter is approximately 13.75 inches.

K&N filter assembly is approx. 3.5 inches

Cannon intake is approx. 5.5 inches

Hope that helps.

Ken,

I have triple Webers with the long manifolds on mine. On the Z, I barely have room to get the air filters off the cleaner assembly on a Z. I have to twist and pull at the brake reservoirs. I don't have time to measure right now but I should have some time tomorrow. Did you get a hold of Gary about your engine? That's a good looking car and with L power it will be a torque monster!

Thanks Roy. Do you have the manifold with long or short runners?

Rob, I haven't spoken to Gary. I'm looking at my options now and one of them is to buy a motor with triple webers that is currently in a project car that is for sale.

Thanks Roy. Do you have the manifold with long or short runners?

I think mine is the long one considering I only have 1.5 inches of clearance between the strut tower and edge of K&N filter.

Check out the link below and read post 15. I think they guy identifies the Cannon 5.5 inch manifold as the long one.

I have mikunis using a F.E.T. (Far East Trading Co.) intake manifold which is very short compared to most other intakes. I have at least 6" in between the air filters and strut tower.
