Posted January 12, 201114 yr comment_341681 I am new to this form so I hope I'm doing this right, I have recently started working on a 71 240Z with the original L24. The valves were ticking so I decided to check the clearance. when I removed the cover I imediatley noticed the oil feed tube above the cam followers was bent at the cast brace and the back section of the tube was not connected which obviousley wasen't allowing for proper lubrication of the last 2 followers. My qusetion is since the vehicle has been sitting for many years what could have caused this (possably heat)? And where can I find a part # or more importantly where can I find this part? I have already checked the local wrecking yards but no L24's to be found and the L28's didn't use this tube. January 12, 201114 yr comment_341687 Actually, the L28s did use this tube up to late 1977, I believe, to 1976 for sure (I have one on my 1976 stock N42 head). I'm not sure when they switched to the internal oil passage cam shafts, but the N42 heads up to 1978 are worth checking. You might be able to repair yours by brazing. January 13, 201114 yr Author comment_341938 Thanks for the heads up, I will be trying another wrecking yard again this weekend. If I am not successful than I will try to order one on line. This has to be one of the most helpful group I have ever met. January 29, 201114 yr Author comment_343804 You might be able to repair yours by brazing. FYI, The main braces of this part are made of some kind of magniesum so not able to braise without melting, however it apears that J.B.Weld works wonders for this kind of stuff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38219-l24-oil-feed-help/#findComment-343804 Share on other sites
January 29, 201114 yr comment_343805 You can still get them at courtesy nissan or any dealer. Hopefully they will match courtesy's price. About $45. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/38219-l24-oil-feed-help/#findComment-343805 Share on other sites
January 29, 201114 yr comment_343826 I would be taking a very close look at the cam and followers for lack of oil damage. Is it poss. that a p.o. swapped in a later model drilled cam and pinched off the oil feed line? I don't know if that is even poss. but you never know. I have seen some pretty goofy p.o. stuff.
