Denver area mechanic

Hey guys, I've got a son in Denver with a '90 240sx that is giving him trouble lately. For a while it would die everytime he stopped at a light unless he kept it idling around 1500 rpm. Now its just running really rough when it's cold. He has to keep it idling high until it warms up and then it runs fine. The car has the stock KA24e I believe. Do any of you Denver area guys know of a reputable Nissan/Datsun mechanic that I could send him to see. Thanks for the help.

Vernal is farther than 5 hours. I wish the Z mechanic that was in the Denver metro area was still around I would send you to him in a hart beet. He would complain and give you some lip from time to time but his work was good. I used to work in the area your son lives the good shops in that area are not cheap. A lot of my clients used

Downing Street Garage

(720) 259-9630

401 Downing St, Denver, CO 80218

I looked them up, they might not be cheap but they are good.

My Dad likes Kars Incorporated

(303) 420-5757

9491 W 44th Ave, #110, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033

They are a little cheaper, the owners are not Nissan Mechanics (Owners are factory trained Corvette specialists), but their staff has grown and they have brought a lot of other specialists in so they might be good also.

For my Nissan/Datsuns I owned I only took them in twice (one to learn how to tune SU carbs, the other time was to repair a broken valve)

Thanks for the additional info. I'll have my son give them a call and see if he can get in. Oh, and by the way, the last time I drove over to visit, I made it in almost 5hrs flat. Of course I was driving my 370z and might have been exceeding the posted speed limit by just a smidge, LOL. I think its about 330 miles. Fun drive though.

That would be a little bit over, with good traffic. I worked in Steamboat Springs for a summer & fall, to bad he don't live in Ft Collins their are several better twisty road in that direction

Just a thought,

When I lived in Colo. (Aurora) my 200sx had the same issues as you are experiancing. Would run rough and have trouble starting and if it got below 15 deg. would not start. After several trips to the dealer I found an older DATSUN mechanic who poped the hood, removed the wire from the temp sensor and the vehicle started and ran without problem. He said this was a common problem with many Nissan / Datsun vehicles from out of the area. He instructed me to do this when it was below 35 deg. and let her warm for a couple min. than replace the wire. I never had a problem after that. Aperantly the problem was in the area of the comp that recieves the signal from the sensor. Not shure this will work for you but worth a try.
