While I would certainly encourage you to pick up a 240, don't give up entirely on the 350 crowd. Unfortunately there are 350 owners who care more about the status symbol of the the latest "must have" four thousand dollars wheels, but there are others that understand the history of the Z and care about keeping the name alive. As far as finding a 240Z goes, take your time and try to evaluate each car as unemotionally as possible. Rust is always the biggest enemy and the most costly problem to remedy, so familiarize yourself with the most common rust areas and watch out for them. January 15, 201114 yr comment_342233 Alex,Interesting comment about the new car owner tendencies. I've wondered many time about how collectable or fullfilling anything could be that has a payment book still attached to it. Wow, how cool is this? "My collector car is still under warranty and the dealer does all my work".Have you checked the classifieds here? January 16, 201114 yr comment_342312 WELCOME ALEXI would like to ditto what SIGNAL34 said about rust being the biggest issue with the 240Z. You can replace or upgrade any other mechanical component but the rust has to be eliminated. I am restoring a 1972 from top to bottom front to back. I began attacking the rust with abrasive discs but took my friends advice and got a CLARKE 20 gallon sandblaster. If it has that ugly brown color on it the sand will remove it and expose any holes that may need to be filled in. I plan to post some pictures as soon as I can of the progress but if you are ever in the Melbourne area you are welcome to stop by. The car has all the fenders removed so you will be able to see the areas underneath the bodywork, areas you don't see when buying a car with all the bodywork attached. If you plan to visit the coast e-mail me at edtwomuchz@gmail.com. for directions to my home. I'm easy to find. Good luck car searching.
